Your organization just completed an engagement survey, and you've received your engagement scores, but how do we get there? In this article we’ll see how we calculate these scores, and what they mean for your organization.
The Engagement Score Formula:
Behind the scenes, we crunch the numbers to provide you with an engagement score that paints a clear picture of your organization's engagement levels. The formula is as follows:
Engagement Score = (Number of Favourable Responses / Total Number of Responses) x 100
Favourable Responses - 4 and 5 on the Likert Scale
But don't worry; you won't need to grab your calculator. Let's break it down step by step.
Gather the Responses:
First, we collect all the responses from your survey. These responses come from your employees taking their engagement surveys.
Count the Favorable Responses:
Next, we focus on the favorable responses. In our surveys, we typically use a 5-point scale, where 4 and 5 indicate positive sentiments. These are the responses that express satisfaction, engagement, and contentment with various aspects of their work.
Find the Total Responses:
To calculate the engagement score, we need to know how many total responses we have from all your participants. This includes everyone who took part in the survey.
Calculate the Score:
Now, we take the number of favorable responses (those 4s and 5s) and divide it by the total number of responses. Then, we multiply this by 100 to get a percentage.
Voilà! Your Engagement Score:
And there you have it—a clear, concise engagement score that reflects the percentage of favorable responses from your employees. This score provides valuable insights into your organization's overall engagement levels.
What Your Score Tells You:
Your engagement score isn't just a number; it's a window into your organization's health.
- A high score suggests that your employees are engaged, satisfied, and invested in their work.
- A lower score may indicate areas that need attention or improvement.
So, the next time you receive your engagement score, you'll know that it's more than just a number—it's a valuable tool for unlocking insights and taking your organization to new heights of engagement and success.
